Most cat scratchers are designed around a simple cycle: use the product until the scratching surface is worn, then replace the whole thing.
We think there is a more useful product logic.
Keep the structure. Replace what actually wears out.
In a replaceable scratching system, the frame becomes the long-life part of the product, while the scratching surface becomes the consumable part. Once the surface is worn, it can be removed and replaced without discarding the full structure.
This approach creates several practical advantages:
- Longer product life: the supporting frame stays in use.
- Lower replacement cost: customers only need to buy the worn scratching insert.
- Less material waste: durable structural parts are not discarded unnecessarily.
- Better refill potential: brands can build a repeat-purchase program around replacement surfaces.
One system, different product forms
The same replaceable-surface principle can be applied across different cat-living formats. A standing scratcher can use a removable insert, while curved loungers can use replaceable corrugated or felt surfaces over a reusable base.

Once the scratching surface is treated as a replaceable component, the refill itself becomes a product. That is why we are also developing standalone replacement surfaces such as the Peel-and-Stick Replaceable Corrugated Scratch Mat and Peel-and-Stick Replaceable Felt Scratch Mat.
For brands, this creates a more complete product story: sell the frame once, then continue serving the customer through compatible replacement surfaces.
The goal is not simply to make another scratcher. It is to create a cat-living system designed for longer use.
